A developer from Autodesk called Louis Marcoux shares in his blog an extensive video tutorial on using stereo camera in 3ds Max. He is also kind enough to share his script for creating stereo camera objects. Videos contains lots of useful stereography related info, which should be interesting even for those who never used a 3ds Max.
The script itself is basically a new modifier, which can be applied on top of the free camera. By doing so you can turn free camera into a stereo camera object, with stereo comfort zone nicely marked in the space. Interaxial distance, film skew, as well as all the normal virtual lens parameters are adjustable.
